West Virginia rules that apply to Mon Power

The state framework sets the default. Where Mon Power pays something different, the utility tariff governs and is what the card above reports.

Compensation mechanismWest Virginia uses utility net-metering tariffs. Grandfathered Appalachian Power/Wheeling Power customers receive full-retail carry-forward credits; non-grandfathered customers have Metered Input and Metered Output separately measured, with output credited at tariffed avoided-cost-component rates. Mon Power likewise separately measures Metered Input and Metered Output for customers not served under its Grandfathering Provision.

Rate effectiveMon Power’s listed Metered Output credit rates remain in effect through December 31, 2026.
Credit rolloverYes for grandfathered customers: Appalachian Power/Wheeling Power says excess kWh are carried forward and credited in subsequent billing periods at the full retail rate; Mon Power says excess kWh are carried forward and credited in subsequent billing periods at the full retail rate. The reviewed new-customer provisions separately measure Metered Output rather than describing a full-retail rollover.
Aggregate program capThe statewide statute permits an electric utility to offer net metering so long as total customer-generator capacity is no greater than three percent (3%) of the utility's aggregate customer peak demand in the state during the previous year, with no less than one-half percent (0.5%) reserved for residential customer-generators.
Program statusThe Appalachian Power/Wheeling Power tariff repeats a three percent (3%) Company single-hour peak-load limit, with one-half percent (0.5%) reserved for residential Customer-generators. Mon Power's tariff repeats the same three percent (3%) limit and one-half percent (0.5%) residential reservation.
